Karen Davis, RDH
Karen Davis, RDH, BSDH, is founder of Cutting Edge Concepts. Her 28 years experience as a practicing dental hygienist, and vast experience as consultant with The JP Institute, of San Diego, California, creates the context in which she relates, inspires, and challenges her audiences to “think outside their boxes”. Karen received her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Midwestern State University, and since then has been an active participant in the dental profession. She speaks internationally, has authored numerous articles and has served on many advisory boards within the profession to share her passion for practicing comprehensively.

Scott Froum, DDS
Dr. Froum received his BA from Amherst College in Amherst, MA with a major in biology. He continued his academic scientific research training at NYU medical school and published numerous papers in the field of angiogenesis and signal transduction. He received his DDS from the State University of New York Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine where he graduated with honors and was given the Blasco-Gomes Award for excellence in the field of periodontics. He continued his dental training in the post graduate periodontal department at the State University of New York Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and received his periodontal certificate with distinguished honors. He was a finalist for the Kramer Award given by the American Academy of Periodontology for clinical and academic excellence in the field of periodontics.
He currently is a Clinical Associate Professor at New York University in the Department of Periodontology and Implantology. He is involved with many ongoing research studies and has authored numerous publications. He has lectured on the national and international level on implant therapy and periodontics. He has a private practice in New York City, NY and Lynbrook, NY.

Casey Hein, BSDH, MBA

With over 30 years of experience in private practice, education, public health, and consulting, Casey Hein is best recognized for her work in translating credible findings of oral-systemic research into everyday patient care. She is the President of Casey Hein & Associates, a dental education company, and the founder of The Delta Project for Advancing Oral-Systemic Health ( She is also the Director of Education of the International Centre for Oral-Systemic Health, and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontics the University of Manitoba, in Winnipeg, Canada. In this position, she is developing the first comprehensive curriculum specifically related to oral-systemic interrelationships for non-dental healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, among others; and translating evidence of oral-systemic relationships into models of interprofessional collaboration. Hein maintains her residence in the Rocky Mountains outside of Denver where she also has an honorary appointment at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine as an Assistant Professor in Craniofacial Biology. She holds a BS degree in Dental Hygiene from West Virginia University and an MBA from Loyola (Baltimore). Christine Karapetian

Dr. Christine Karapetian received her BS from James Madison University in Biology with a concentration in Microbiology and Immunology. Dr. Karapetian completed her dental training at New York University, College of Dentistry and stayed at NYU to complete a post graduate degree in periodontics. She was the chief resident for two years in the periodontics program and participated in several international outreach programs and research studies in the field of periodontics.

Kimberly Miller, RDH, BSDH, RDHMP
Kim Miller, RDH, BSDH, RDHMP is a partner of the JP Institute and a founder of PerioFrogz. As a graduate from Loma Linda University in 1981 she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. She is a published author and speaks throughout the United States and Canada as a workshop/seminar leader and a presenter for state and local meetings. In addition to clinical practice, Kim has been a consultant and trainer with the JP Institute since 1992 coaching more than 500 practices teaching a hands-on curriculum. Kim displays her experience and passion for Dentistry in her refreshing speaking style and those in her audience walk away with information that is applicable on the very next business day.

Richard H. Nagelberg, DDS
Dr. Richard Nagelberg owns a general dentistry practice in the suburbs of Philadelphia and has more than 20 years of experience as a dental practitioner. The Founder and President of PerioConsulting Services, Richard is on the speaker's bureau for both Pfizer Inc. and OraPharma, Inc.
A respected professional in the dental community, Richard was the District Dental Officer in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, in 1983. Currently, he is a visiting faculty member at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and he is a board member of the Johnson & Johnson Oral Healthcare Advisory Board.
Richard is a member of the Catholic Relief Services Disaster Relief Team working in Thailand and Cambodia. He is also an advisory panel member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Richard is a 1982 graduate of the Georgetown University School of Dentistry.

Richard Nejat, DDS

Dr. Richard Nejat is board certified by the American Board of Periodontology. His practice is on the forefront of computer guided implant dentistry and minimally invasive dental surgery. He is a course instructor in various continuing educational seminars, symposiums to colleges, and dental societies. Dr. Nejat attended Drew University and continued his education at New York University, where he attained his doctorate of dental surgery. Dr. Nejat was elected to membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society recognizing academic and clinical excellence in dentistry. He earned his certificate in periodontics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr Nejat is currently clinical assistant professor in the department of implant dentistry and periodontics at New York University and maintains private practices in Manhattan and Nutley, New Jersey.

Chris Salierno, DDS

Dr. Salierno received his B.S. from Muhlenberg College and his D.D.S. from SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. He completed his formal training at Stony Brook Hospital’s General Practice Residency program where he focused on implant prosthetics. While in dental school, he was the National President of the American Student Dental Association. Today, he continues his advocacy efforts with the New York State Dental Association and Suffolk County Dental Society. Dr. Salierno lectures on his particular areas of interest, including occlusion, dental materials, prosthodontics, and implant prosthodontics. He enjoys helping audiences integrate the latest research into everyday practice. In 2005, he returned to his former dental school as an Assistant Clinical Professor.

Cheryl (Cher) Thomas, RDH

Cher Thomas, R.D.H. became a renal transplant recipient in 1999, and has lived with kidney disease for the past decade. For over twenty five years she has practiced as both a registered dental hygienist and dental assistant in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and public health settings. Cher is a national speaker who educates and inspires patients and their medical and dental healthcare providers regarding the special needs of renal patients. By using both her personal and professional experience, Cher teaches audiences techniques that lead to improving patient/provider communication as well as improved quality of life. In addition, Cher instructs patients and dental/medical health care providers the special needs concerning the dental management of patients living with renal disease. She has been published in The National Kidney Foundation’s — The Transplant Chronicles and various dental/dental hygiene publications and in July 2005, she received the RDH Sunstar Butler Award of Distinction in Dental Hygiene.
